Slim silver PS2 vs regular PS2.

Post by justinlynch3 on Mon 22 Dec 2008, 8:00 pm

Ok, so my friend had his PS2 for many year's, and even though it still in good working condition, he decided to go and buy a new one. The one he got was the silver slim PS2. I got to say, I was disappointed by a 2 main things.

1st: What the hell is up with the disc tray. Instead of sliding out, like on the regular PS2, it now pop's up. I mean that sucks. You could put the regular PS2 in tight spaces, or even put other systems on top of it. You got to have a open space for the slim PS2 cause of the stupid pop up tray.

2nd: Some games seems to take a little longer to load, I mean what's up with that?

Operating wise, I see no difference in a regular PS2 and a slim PS2. As things stand, I say regular PS2 >>> slim PS2. Slim version seems like a downgrade if anything else.

Yep, regular > slim.

I've still got my first and only regular. I've never had any of my Playstations break down Very Happy

Same here. All mine ever needed was a video cord. Smile

Though going by what I see, if mine ever did break down, I'd rather buy a used regular then a new slim.

In the unlikely event of my PS2 ever breaking down, I would not buy a new one.
My PS3 can play PS2 & 1 discs, so why buy a new one Very Happy
My PS1 would NEVER break down though. I might have it for a long time, but it's far from old.
My PS2 on the other hand has trouble reading blue discs, though that's it. I'd be VERY surprised if it would break down.

I take good care of my stuff, so it won't crash on me Smile

My PS2 is a good 6 or 7 (maybe older) years old, and besides using a dics cleaner once in a whlie, I does nothing with it. I have never once opened my PS2 afraid I might screw up something. And for as long as I had it, it works like new. I'm never even needed that lazer thiny adjusted. People say the PS2 commenly breaks down, but mine never did.

this is what i heard, your ps2 will either break down or live for ever.

my ps2 broke down after about 7 years, and my brothers broke after like 8 years. Hell, that is a long time for a console. However, i don't really care that my ps2 broke, cause i got a BC ps3!

My PS2 died after four or so years, but I'm not that upset because I got a PS3 to replace it.

That said, it does irk me when people go on about how bad the 360's reliability is, when my PS2 was just as bad....how many Disc Read Errors did I see in its last three-four years? Lots.

How many RRODs did my old 20GB 360 have? Two. And they lasted about five minutes each.

With my PS2, I can't remember ever having a disc read error, and I got second hand games, well 1, that is scratched to shit, and still play's. Razz

On another note, my buddy's 360 is doing quite well, but he doesn't leave it on longer then 3 to 4 hours, he say's it get's hot. Is that normal for a 360 or is there a problem there?

no, its is common for a 360 to get hot. Thats why its fans sound like a jet engine taking off.
