Yakuza 3
I can't believe there is not a thread about this yet! Anybody else played this gem of a game?
I'm at chapter 7 so far, and I have to say, it is really amazing. I generally just run around and mess about, which proved quite lucrative as people drop their locker keys everywhere, and street punks are a good source of income.
Much funnier to do sub quests than focus on the story, though, mostly because I love the quirkiness of them. For example, one has you playing the lead role of a samurai movie, with specific instructions on how to defeat which opponents, and what lines to say in-between fights (you get three choices).
The minigames are also gold, especially fishing, which is easily my favourite activity in Okinawa. I haven't played that many, but pool and golf are great fun, and I'm looking forward to darts.
Story is epic and intriguing, and the voice acting is marvellous. The fact that the cutscenes are broken up by press-a-to-continue reading sections doesn't bother me, but probably only because I've gotten used to them. Graphics are great, too, and the music is spot on.
Addendum: Weeaboo Mack is reeeeaaaally annoying.

Hey Buu, have you done all the hitman missions? I did the first two (sledgehammer and stun gun), but I'm reluctant to do the others, seeing as they all have guns. Is there anything I should pay attention to when fighting people with guns?

The gun ones i personally found easiest, just get used to sidestepping. After a while you'll get used to the different timings for dodging for different guns (or you can try to get things in between you, or last resort do a majima and just sidestep non stop). They always reload so you got a big window to do some damage. To maximise damage i recommend using a heat drink (i didn't use that tactic but its a good way to land some decent damage). Is the third hit the couple? I finished all the hitman missions the first set in kamurucho are definitely doable. I think the later ones get a lot harder, but you get a lot stronger by that point. They only unlock 3 or so at a time so assuming you only just unlocked these i thin you can only do a couple more at the moment, if you managed those you'll be fine. IIRC gunmen don't block so if you get in close its fairly easy to get them hurting, when dealing with two gunmen just make sure one is always on the floor.
If you need more tips let me know and i'll play some of these missions again to remember what i did.

Re: Yakuza 3
Thanks a lot, that sounds reasonable.
Do you know how to use the following items?
- Resin
- Alloy thread
- Multipurpouse thumbtack
- Rainbow alloy
- Shard of tempered glass (I got about 5 of these >_<)
- Cardboard cutter (or something like that)
- Comfy soles (just useless?)
- Ancient steel ("for forging swords)
Also, do you have any tips on creating and modding weapons?
I have no idea how to do it.

I think its chapter 3,do you remember a fat nerd coming up to you and talking about buying weapons?
That guy will mod weapons for you the above srtuff is all used for weapon modding. This usually require a base weapon and two materials. You can get manuals on making weapons from buying them off the fat guy ( i think his base is south of Rikiya's familiy office and in the big city its somwhere near west park down a side alley).
Additonal and better manuals for weapon mods are found in lockers and by winning things IIRC there's one for winning the golf tournament and theres another for completing ex hard baseball (that is stupidly hard to do).
Note you can't make anye weapon mods unless you have the manual for that weapon.
Anyways if you need any help let me know or get your sister to ask me if i haven't logged in here for a while.

Re: Yakuza 3
Gun couple was really annoying. Just took a HEAT and health drink and bowlingballed one to death, then spammed shotgun on the other. Just fought Goro for the second time, really exciting.

Re: Yakuza 3
I'm about to do the sniper hitman battle. Anything I should keep in mind?
Where can I get weapon manuals? I don't remember seeing any in the stores or the van.
How do I beat Master Yonashiro when he uses the final weapon (I think it was kali sticks)? He suddenly became really annoying, and I couldn't figure it out. Do I need the quickstepping revelation with the chick handing out leaflets? I did it in the demo, but I can't find it here.
