At last I've seen The Dark Knight.

Quite a good movie.

not suitable for younger audiences though, i remember a lot of parents taking their kids out of the theater when i saw it

The movie doesn't appear to be aimed at younger audiences, I mean they actually shows a guy with half his face burned off. If they was aiming for a younger audiences they would have covered it with a mask or something.

Apparently not to most people. When I went to see the Hulk movie (The newer one), someone brought their baby in with them.

They rates movies for a reason. Though theaters should ask for proof of age instead of letting kids into these movies.

Apparently not to most people. When I went to see the Hulk movie (The newer one), someone brought their baby in with them.

One of the times I was going to see "The Fellowship of the Ring" in theatres (it warranted multiple views ), it got to the point where Aragorn decapitates Lurtz (the Uruk Hai leader)...

Little kid at back of theatre: "YAAAY!"

All tension evaporated from the room!

If by "ruined", you mean "made the audience laugh at an inappropriate moment", then yes.

I was a little late on seeing the movie too.
Made a whole hype of it, so my parents went out and rented it.
We watched it, I loved it.
They were like "Eh."

Seriously, I thought it was great....
