Sadly, the important announcement wasn't that FT will get an anime, but that it won some important manga prize.
However, Mashima has been asked for an anime version, but he said he wanted to have done more with the story before the anime gets made so that there won't be much need for fillers. Thus making him a smarter author than Kishitmoto.
